Tuesday evening, February 26th 2019 was probably just a typical day for some, until you scrolled on Twitter and saw Solange Knowles working the stripper pole; now you're freaking out. Will there be a new Solange album coming out soon?
The ethereal songstress announced on Twitter that she has a new website through BlackPlanet. For those who have no clue what BlackPlanet is, Black Planet is an African-American social media platform launched in 1999 for matchmaking and job postings, as well as forums for discussions on political and social issues.
When you go to Solange's BlackPlanet profile, the main page plays a looped video of three black woman in what looks to be a bank vault. Two of them are doing cosmic movements with their hands. At the top of the page, you can find links to her previously announced European tour dates and a form to subscribe to her newsletter. Her "Dossier" link leads you to a photobook containing dozens of beautiful photos of black women in formation and horses, which may be a hint that her next album is inspired by her H-Town roots.
Head over to the Solange tab, and you'll find more photos of Solange wearing custom Thierry Mugler and lyric-esque quotes like, "How much of ourselves do we leave at home and how much do we carry with us forever?" or "Threw my earnings like offerings and prayed it went to something that made her feel good."
In October 2018 according to Fader Magazine, Solange said that a follow up to 2016's A Seat At The Table would be released in the fall, but the project has yet to be emerged. She described the music as "fluid and more sensual," and that the project's release would be "at some mysterious and unexpected moment."
Whenever that moment arrives, fans are ready to give their mind and soul to whatever Solange has in store, as a Seat At The Table was a true testament to the self-healing of African-Americans. In the meantime, check out Solange's Black Planet profile and make a account if you haven't. This moment is an indication of how black celebs and black press can work in tandem to shift the culture forward, leading to a bright and gorgeous future for black culture overall.
